Passing of a Torrington landmark

No regrets!

Normally the passing of a landmark is to be regretted but there are no regrets at the demolition of the ruin of Sydney House, Torrington.

27 October 1950 Passing of a Torrington landmark

It stood as a tragic reminder of the fire which in 1941 gutted the main premises, then used as a County Council open-air school for delicate children, five of whom lost their lives in the outbreak.
