In the course of a letter he describes a remarkable incident which occurred on Christmas Eve between the British and German trenches.

Long service awards to members of the staff of Trumps Ltd, Barnstaple, and J U Fulford and Sons Ltd, Bideford, were among those made at a dinner for members of Fulford, Trumps and Co Ltd and its subsidiaries held at the New Inn Hotel, Bideford.
