Mr and Mrs F W Fursey
In the same house, Causeway, Northam Road, Bideford, to which they came as a young married couple fifty years ago, Mr and Mrs Frederick William Fursey were quietly celebrating their golden wedding.
Mr and Mrs Fursey were married at St Mary's Church, Bideford, on June 16th 1901, by the late Rev Newton Leake. Mr Fursey is a son of the late Mr and Mrs William Fursey of Appledore, and his wife who, before her marriage, was Miss Mary C Blackmore, a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Blackmore, formerly of Monkleigh and Bideford.
There are two daughters, Mrs L Walter, of Stretchley, Whitstone, Cornwall, and Sister L S Fursey, who lives at home with her parents. Together with the two daughters, the two grandchildren, Norman and Phyllis, and son-in-law, Mr Walter, they made up the family party to celebrate Saturday's happy anniversary.
For about fifteen years, Mr Fursey also combined his trade with duties of stationmaster, signalman, porter and gate-operator at the Causeway Halt on the old Bideford-Westward Ho!-Appledore railway.
