Bideford Sewage and the Torridge 28th September 1948
Answer to an allegation, made at a recent meeting of the Taw and Torridge Board of Conservations, that under Bideford's new sewerage scheme a larger volume of sewage would be thrown into the Torridge, is contained in a letter received by the Town Clerk of Bideford, Mr F C Backway, from Mr F W S Stanton, Bideford Borough Council's consulting engineer.
The volume of sewage is equal to that of the water supply, for the water, after use and consumption, enters the sewers as sewage and is discharged through the outfall.
