Woolsery children's Coat of Arms in Sea-shells 12.07.1961

Woolsery childrens coat of arms in sea shellsEach summer term children at Woolsery Primary School make a study of various kinds of sea shells and sea weeds.  Mr C B Griffiths headmaster had a brainwave - "a picture of Bideford's Coat of Arms made from sea shells and painted, would be a good idea."

Children seen in the picture, left to right are Michael Andrew, Michael Dark, Ann Piper, Joan Gorrell, Susan Bond, Pauline Gilbert and Sylvia Braund.  They are all aged 10.
