bideford school pioneers new constructional methodFirst school to be built in this country using a structure of aluminium girders is at present being erected in Bideford.

New junior school for pupils of Stella Maris Convent being erected in the Convent's grounds near Mignonette Walk.  Main contractors for the work are the Bideford firm of A F (Colin) Beer & Son.  The use of new lightweight girders in the building trade is the idea of the designer of the school, Mr Bruce Martin, of London.
