Bideford loses training ship "Revenge" 30th September 1957

bideford loses training ship revengeOne of the most interesting sights along Bideford riverside during the past 9 years has been that of the Admiralty's M.T.B. Revenege, which has served as headquarters for the Bideford unit of the Sea Cadet Corps.

Bideford Sea Cadets, under Lieut-Commander T N Rowe, have looked after her well, but have been unable to prevent the deterioration of her hull below the water line, and the steady out-flow of the town's sewer, has all added to the decay of her timbers.

Speaking at the meeting of the Borough Council, the Mayor Mr D F B Stucley said T. S. Revenge had done great service for the youth of the town, service made possible by Rear-Admiral H G C Franklin, Lieut Commander T N Rowe and the committee that supported them.
