Hartland Coast Gift to the Nation
Hartland Coast Gift to the Nation
Some of the grandest coast scenery in North Devon is to be found in the extensive parish of Hartland and it is good news for all who love
or on future visits will come to love this district, that East Titchberry farm, Hartland, has been presented to the National Trust by the owner
Miss Abraham, of 15 Park Avenue, Taunton, subject to a rent charge for the former owner’s life-time.
Included in the farm’s 130 acres is Shipload Bay, understood to be the only piece of sandy beach between Hartland Point and Westward Ho!.
This cove is a favourite beauty spot for bathing and picnics and well worth the exercise afforded in reaching it.
From the cliffs above the view to the north-east extends to Baggy Point and Morte Point, two other properties given to the Trust.
The picture below shows another view of the exhilarating stretch of rugged North Devon coastline between Clovelly and Hartland, now to be preserved for the nation.
