‘Astride crest of ridge’
Scheme for the erection of 42 to 50 chalets in two fields on the skyline at Gainsborough, Abbotsham, has been submitted to Bideford Rural Council by Mr A P Tucker.
But the Council’s Public Health and Housing Committee, meeting on Tuesday, recommended that the application be refused.
Abbotsham Parish Council have told the Rural Council that they are opposed to the scheme because the site is astride the crest of a ridge and is visible as far away as Clovelly. So far all holiday development was out of sight from the south and this would be a new intrusion of the beauty and character of the coastal belt.
