£27,500 For An Abbotsham Farm

3.2.1950 Abbotsham farm Pusehill

On Tuesday, at Mitchell’s Café, Bideford, Messrs Hannaford Ward and Southcombe Ltd, negotiated the sale of Pusehill Farm, Abbotsham, for Mr L Bellew, the various lots selling for a total of £27,500.

The sale attracted a record attendance, and the bidding was very keenly contested. The six lots were disposed of as follows:

Lot 1: Pusehill House, buildings and 80 acres of land - £10,600 to Mr A P Tucker, of Westward Ho!
Lot 2: Small holding comprising 17 acres - £3,800 to Mr William Beer, of Bideford.
Lot 3: 49 acres of freehold land, known as ‘Gainsboroughs’ - £3,250 to Mr A P Tucker.
Lot 4: Two fields totalling 15½ acres - £2,750 to Mr A Reed, of Northam.
Lot 5: 22 acres of land - £3,750 to Mr E G Bean, of Abbotsham.
Lot 6: 19½ acres of meadow land - £3,350 to Mr A P Tucker
