'A Very Good Co-operative Effort'
Entitled ‘our place’ this panel of embroidery by pupils of Class IC at Torrington County Secondary School was highly commended, at the Guild of Embroiders’ exhibition in London, in the senior section of the Schools’ Challenge competition 1970 championship.
It so impressed an author preparing a book on embroidery that she has asked for permission to include a photograph of it.
The judges at the exhibition described the entry as ‘a lovely panel which is full of interest – a very good co-operative effort.’
The young embroiderers seen with the panel are: Susan Dunn, Rosemarie Shambrooke, Wendy Skinner, Caroline Finch, Julie Symons, Marina Davey, Sharon Johns and Josephine Coysh.
