Perhaps the stork came to see the decorations,

for ‘The Stork Club’ was the theme of decorations in the maternity ward of Torrington Cottage Hospital over Christmas. Anyway, on Christmas Eve a daughter was born to Mrs Betty Catherine Sussex, of Torrington.

Here she is seen receiving one of her first visitors – Santa Claus with a gift for the new arrival. With her is the Matron, Miss Heath, and Sister Bricknell, of Taddiport.

It is two years since a Christmas baby was born at the Cottage Hospital – last year the maternity section was closed due to staffing problems.
