Hosts, Hartland Young Farmers’ Club finished third when a friendly Y.F.C. quiz was held at the Hartland Church Hall on Tuesday night.
Three club teams visited Hartland for the quiz – Bradworthy, Buckland Brewer and Shebbear. The contest resulted: Bradworthy 30 ½ points, Buckland 28, Hartland 22 ½, Shebbear 14 ½. Tuesday’s quiz was one of a series of friendly contests arranged by the local Y.F.C.s.
Question-master was Mr. F. M. Shore, of Bideford, group secretary of the Torridge branches of the N.F.U. Adjudicators were Messrs. L. Goaman and E. G. Quance.
Members of the teams were: Hartland – W. Goaman, D. Williams, J. Heard, J. Cottle, Mrs. A. Gray; Bradworthy – C. Bellew, J. Quance, T Rozuaduski, Miss M. Harris and Miss J. Wickett; Buckland – D. Poole, B. Stevens, E. Ley, W. Moase, Miss J. Dunn; Shebbear – E. Haste, J. Lawton, M. Pedrick, E. Finnemore, C. Nicholls. The scorer was Mr. Andrew Goaman, chairman of the Hartland club.
The quiz was followed by a social.
