25.6.1918 Frithelstock

At the Appeals Tribunal at Barnstaple on Thursday, George Henry Hunkin, of Frithelstock, passed Class A eighteen months ago, and Grade 1 on a recent examination, asked to have another examination on account of defective vision. Captain Stirling said curiously enough the Bideford doctor, whose certificate the man put in, credited him with better sight than the Medical Board did.
The Medical Board knew all the facts and entered them in the medical history sheet. He could be corrected by glasses, and it would be a waste of time to send him for another examination. The application was refused.
