Girls from Stella Maris Convent School, Bideford, were eating Edam cheese this week which they had brought from Holland as a souvenir of the eight days they spent there during the Easter holidays.
Their visits included a tour of the canals at Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Harbour, the Delft potteries, a cheese factory, art galleries and the Zuider Zee. ‘We were made welcome wherever we went’ said Miss M Loughlin, one of the teachers who accompanied the party. While at Volendam the group found a photographer who kept a stock of national costumes, and posed for the photograph: J Beer, M Little, P Westwood, C Lockhart, W Whiteland, M Whiteland, C Blackmore, J Ley, D Steer, S Lisle, Miss K O’Loughlin, Miss M Loughlin, V Pedrick, S Pidgeon.
