First pigeons to fly North Sea
These two birds, bred and raced by Mr P. J. Mounce of High Street, Bideford, came in first and second positions of Bideford Racing Pigeon Club in the recent Amsterdam race (402 miles). No 6318, a blue chequer cock, came in first club position with a velocity of 540 yards per minute.
No 2917, another blue chequer cock, took the second club position returning a velocity of 521 yards per minute.
This is the first time on record of pigeons flying the North Sea to Bideford.
