‘Realisation of hopes and dreams’

The opening ceremony of the new community centre was carried out by Mr Hadyn Wood, the distinguished violinist and composer who resided in the district for some years.

The centre, formerly known as the Kingsley Gym and originally built as part of the old Roman Catholic College at Clevelands Terrace, is believed to be the first of its kind in North Devon. Now to be known as Kingsley Hall, the centre was purchased by the local Community Association by means of gifts and loans and with the aid of a grant from the Ministry of Education.
