Lucky puppy

This is the story and photograph of Tessa a Schipperke (Dutch barge dog) puppy belonging to Mr and Mrs T.G. Kelland of Summerhill, Littleham, who has been successfully nursed from a pathetic new-born puppy weighing 4 ounces to a thriving bundle of energy and fluff weighing one and a quarter pounds after 25 days.

Tessa’s mother died when having puppies and this was the only one saved from the litter.

In that first anxious fortnight Mr and Mrs Kelland had to feed the puppy every two hours day and night which continued for 11 days. Very appropriately Tessa has been registered as ‘Orphan of the Storm.’
