Last ketch left at sea
The ketch Emma Louise, photographed recently upon the Hubbastone patent slip, Appledore, for repairs, is the last of the ships built at Westacott’s yard, Barnstaple, left at sea. In the eighteen eighties there were at least 30 of them.
Built in 1883 she was John Westacott’s last ship in his Barnstaple yard before moving to the river Torridge at Lower Cleavehouses. She is registered at Bideford and is owned at Minehead.
