New headquarters for Rural Council
The photograph shows th new headquarters-to-be of Bideford Rural Council, the draft of the lease from Bideford Bridge Trust having been approved by their special committee and the tenancy dated from 9 May.
The Western National Bus Co. had been tenants of Grenville House for ten years. At one time it was the private residence of a Dr Thompson. In those days it was known as ‘The Mansion House’. It is believed to be just over 100 years old. When repairs to the building were being carried out it was found that some of its bricks had been made at Cleavehouses, Northam.
