Bideford’s tribute to a great sea king
Memorial services to his late majesty King George VI were held throughout the district on Friday and during the weekend and great congregations to a well-loved sovereign.
Two minutes’ silence was observed in town street and village lane and in a number of instances as at Bideford Parish Church, the passing bell was tolled 56 times, once for each year of King George’s life, before memorial services.
