A proud memory of 1920
The launching of the first steel ship to be built at Bideford is pictured, having come to rest in the river after the launch. The s.s. Hubbastone of 1,150 tons was built at Hansen’s shipyard at Cleavehouses and her launching took place on October 14th 1920.
Prior to the launch of the Hubbastone there had been no ship launched for nearly thirty years at Bideford.
