Bideford loses training ship ‘Revenge’

Ship to be broken up

One of the most interesting sights along Bideford riverside during the past nine years or so, has been that of the Admiralty’s M.T.B. Revenge which has served as headquarters for the Bideford unit of the Sea Cadet Corps.

The Sea Cadets have been unable to prevent the deterioration of her hull below the water-line and the steady outflow of the town’s sewer, has all added to the decay of her timbers and so the decision to dispose of her to the Appledore ship breakers had to be made.
