Last link with old days at Bideford 

Perhaps Bideford’s last link with the days when ponies and traps parked outside the Pannier Market far outnumbered motor-cars is provided by Miss Maud Jeffery of Lower Netherdowns, Weare Giffard.

She has been driving her pony and trap into town every week for the past forty years and used to trade outside the market and along Grenville Street.

There is a stable adjoining her cottage occupied by her 10 year old pony Billy.
