No laughing matter

Bideford housewives manage a smile in adverse circumstances

Aggravated when the tide is up and river-drainage sluices are closed, the flood water masses itself in the low-lying marsh areas between the Northam Causeway road and the Kingsley road and natural levelling forces the surplus water up into the homes of the Chanters Lane houses.

Bideford Town Council met in special committee on this problem on Tuesday but no decision was taken. This is a matter which should win public opinion and with the County Council elections coming on, it should have the fullest sympathy with new aspirants to County Council office.
