The coastal feature in the West of England BBC Home Service on Wednesday gives a portrait of the three-masted wooden schooner Kathleen and May. Under her skipper-owner Capt. Tommy Jewell of Alpha Place, Appledore, she plies from West-country ports and to Ireland.

She carries a crew of four – skipper, mate, engineer and deckhand.
