One of Devon's oldest horsemen

One of North Devon’s oldest horsemen is 91 year old Mr Lewis Grills, of Brownsham Cottage, Clovelly, seen here with his 18 year old pony Polly on a visit to blacksmith Mr H. Conibear of Hartland.

It was eleven years ago this Lady Day that he retired after farming at Brownsham for some forty years and was succeeded by his son, Mr H. Grills.
