Opening of new hall

A visitor pauses to inspect the entrance porch of Alverdiscott’s new parish hall which was opened on Wednesday by Miss Lesley Saweard who plays the part of Christine Johnson in the BBC serial play ‘The Archers’.

The hall is situated in a central position in the parish it will serve and stands on land given for the purpose some years ago by Mr and Mrs C. Ley. Alverdiscott parish has a population of only 240 people who, as a result of a great deal of hard work and under enthusiastic leadership, have raised the bulk of the cost of their new £3,500 parish hall.
