Beware this deadly plant
Lt.-Col. W.B. Churchill-Longman of Heale House, Littleham, displays a ‘deadly’ plant he has identified in his conservatory. It is the American thorn-apple which is described as very deadly to small children or in cattle. The foliage and seeds are deadly poisonous. The capsules are like those of a horse chestnut, green with spines, and attractive to children.
Col. Churchill-Longman noticed the plant a short while ago when he removed a couple of cucumber plants and realised its serious nature.
