Surfing season has no end
Cutting winter winds sweep across the beach at Westward Ho! and the sea is icy – but across the sand any weekend when the surf is up the black-clad figures of surfers can be seen hurtling beachwards on the walls of the Atlantic rollers. These are the Malibu boys.
For the Malibou enthusiasts the surfing season has no end – the arrival of winter only means the arrival of the bigger surf with better and more exciting rides.
Seen carrying their boards back up the beach after a two hour session at the weekend are (left to right): Bert Gorrell of Northam; Mike Pett of Orchard Hill, Northam; Terry Lloyd of Bideford; and Pete Griffey of Cross Street, Northam.
