Film star's first public engagement at Beaford
It was indeed a ‘pretty penny’ occasion at the Globe Hotel, Beaford, on Monday evening when Miss Penny Baker of Exeter, carried out her first solo public engagement as a film starlet by pushing over a pile of 2,600 pennies collected there on behalf of cancer research funds.
