Road improvements at Instow
To mark the official opening of the improved section of the A39 trunk road at the rea of Instow, Ald. Tom Anstey on Tuesday unveiled a plaque commemorating this £61,000 scheme. For many hears this Instow veteran of council work, both at county and district level, has pressed repeatedly for improvements to be carried out to that part of the road.
The improvement extends nearly a mile over a stretch which previously was both narrow and twisting and dangerous, not only to motorists but also to pedestrians for whom there was no pavement. The roadway has been widened and realigned, two side roads have been diverted, and heavy retaining walls constructed.
