No sale of Springfield House

Bideford Town Council have declined to sell Springfield House to Devon County Council. The Town Council were told by the Borough Surveyor Mr H.J. Denne that because of the proposed harbour extension and the expanding trade of the cattle market, they should retain it for their own use.

The Town Clerk (Mr L.B. Galliford) said the County Council were seeking a site for a handicapped persons’ centre and an old people’s home.
