Receiving advice from Gloucestershire cricketer David Shepherd, whose home is at Instow, is young Lester Bird - a member of a family which has given many years service to Bideford Cricket Club.

Looking on - Lester's father Mervyn and grandfather Cecil, who although in his seventies will be umpiring once again next season.
