Lunches, teas and coffees
And once again contributing much behind the scenes to the success and popularity of Bideford’s annual bowling tournament was the band of Bideford Club members’ wives who throughout the week provided lunches, teas and snacks in the adjacent Rugby Club hall. They served an average of about 100 lunches, 135 teas and 100 coffees a day.
They were persuaded to come into the sunshine just as they were finishing the luncheon washing-up and were starting to prepare for tea. The team was led by Mrs Harry Blackmore and Mrs F Horner.
