Successful netball team!

Junior champions of the North Devon Schools Netball League are these girls from Bideford Secondary Modern School seen here with the championship shield they won last week.

This is the fourth that the trophy has been up for competition and the first occasion on which it has come to Bideford. The previous winners were Barnstaple Technical, Barnstaple Secondary Modern and Combe Martin Secondary Modern.

This trophy, which is for Schools’ second teams, was won by Janet Cater, Doreen Balsdon, Hilary Payne, Margaret Palmer, Maureen Williams, Cynthia Squires and Jean Craner.

In the final they defeated South Molton, at Barnstaple, 12-7
